Waters State park is the jewel in the crown of the Central West. it
offers a clean, clear vast expanse of water with the surrounding area
offering excellent water facilities.

- Wyangala is located at the junction of the Lachlan and Abercrombie
Rivers
- The catchment area is 828,800 hectares
- The capacity of the dam is 1,217,600 megalitres
- The surface area is two and a half times Sydney Harbour
- Work on the dam commenced in 1928, a 60 metre wall was erected
and was completed in 1935
- A second dam was proposed to increase the storage capacity for
irrigation.
- Worked commenced in 1961 and was completed in 1971
- The length of the wall is 1,510 metres

Burrendong State Recreation Area edges Lake Burrendong: one of the State's
most magnificent waterways; enjoyed by water enthusiasts and anglers. The
park also provides the ideal countryside setting for many land-based
activities. The park provides a recreational focal point for residents and
tourists throughout the central west of New South Wales - anyone looking for
a different type of outdoor experience.
Features include: two boat launching ramps, hectares of mown grass picnic
areas, clean modern amenities, free gas barbecues, children's play equipment,
shelter sheds and picnic tables.
Fishing: There are many popular fishing spots in the park. Live bait is
generally available from the kiosk. Fish caught in the lake include redfin, catfish, yellowbelly, cod
and trout.
Activities:Water sports are the most popular at Lake Burrendong. Sailing,
powerboating and water skiing are well provided for with boat ramps and moorings
at several locations within the park. Car trailer parking is available as well as
boat and caravan storage areas. Water ski and sail boat race days are held from
November to April.
Kiosk: Opens daily, provides groceries, take-away foods,ice, L.P. gas and fuel.
Table service also available.
Land Based Activities: include golf, tennis, volleyball, bushwalking and
horse riding by prior booking.

At the foot of Mount Canobolas is a large tranquil lake which provides a range
of activities with the changing of the seasons. The lake is encompassed in
the Lake Canobolas Recreation Park which is open every day of the year. No
entrance or park fees are charged, however, the park is closed each evening
at dusk.
